First hour pledge
1. Commas quiz - hard copy and correcting commas in paragraphs on-line 2. Continue reading chapter six then move straight into chapter seven. 3. 4TH THROUGH 7TH HOUR Vocabulary quiz will immediately ensue; this only took place for 4th - 7th hours DUE TO THE TWO-HOUR DELAY TODAY. Resources required at this point in the unit: Novel synopsis As we read, we need to make sure to list elements of narrative and features of the mystery genre for support and proof that this novel is a mystery narrative. 1. Begin a letter to Father. Using the entries from their journals, students explain (summarize) the highlights of chapters six and seven from Nathan's point of view as if he is writing a letter to send to his father on Tatoosh Island. 2. This assignment will be written in proper letter format. STUDENTS NEED AN ENVELOPE FOR THIS; THEY WILL RECEIVE TWO EXTRA CREDIT POINTS FOR BRINGING IN THEIR OWN ENVELOPE FOR THIS. |

1. Finish/Read chapter seven orally

First hour pledge 1. Final revisions - Round Robin Revisions - scan letters for requirements - revision checklist will be provided in class. 2. Make revisions, write the valediction (closing), properly fold the letter, and address the envelope to conclude our project. 3. If time permits - if not today, then we will begin next week with the following: 8 & 9 Pre-Chapter PowerPoint without the music then again with music and discuss the impact the music has on the emotion and depth of the images. Students respond to the questions for making connections and synthesizing experiences, the music, and the images. |
